Surrounded By The Uninhabitable revisits the study as both the activity of thinking and researching, and the space dedicated to it. Occupying the exhibition between furniture and architecture, eight study-structures house the books and objects pertaining to particular moments in the history of Turkish archaeology. The series of studies loosely refer in form and color to fragments of other rooms, some from personal experience, others from the studies of key historical intellectual figures. The studies cast shadows along the walls, produced in collaboration with Asli Altay, that are used to open up each archaeological moment and its timeline.
